Potty training semi-success!

We decided not to mess around with potty training Cooper anymore. We are so sick of diapers and Cooper is really ready now. We just needed to be more consistent. He is very motivated by candy (of any sort), so we use that as a reward. Now, we don't have him completely potty trained, yet, but we are getting closer than we ever have. He NEVER gets candy unless he has dry pants when he pees in the potty, and he gets super-cool mini snickers or a mini milky-way if he does #2; which he did today. For the first time. Ever. Twice.

He is ALWAYS in big boy pants adorned with either Thomas, Elmo or various Sesame Street monsters. I just had to take some pictures of how cute his little butt is in them. I was talking about how cute and little his butt is and he said mommy butt BIG, and he made sure to accentuate that fact with an arm swinging to the ceiling. Way to make your mommy feel good, Coop.

Cooper hiding as I chased him around the kitchen with the camera. Modest. I understand.

Ahhh, finally got the cute-butt shot.

STORYLAND 2009!

Storyland, Storyland....the land of stories. We made our 2nd annual trip to North Conway last weekend and though we all had our moments, it was a nice time. We spent the night at the hotel with the waterpark the night before (sorry, no pics of that, but if you've seen one waterslide, you've seen them all). We ate dinner at a pizza place with a wood fire oven, Flatbread Pizza Co. I really don't think there is any better pizza to be had. Mmmm. Wood fired pizza. Beer.

Cooper had an ear infection diagnosed the morning we left (thanks for taking him, Jason), so Cooper was a bit on the cranky side. The boys were quite loud in the hotel room, so after a few threats that Storyland would be called and informed that we weren't coming, they toned it down.

We arrived at Storyland at about 9am with wagon in tow (a pain in the butt until the boys really needed it, then we were so glad we had it). I think the first real ride we did was the German carousel...this is different than the american carousel in that it rotates clockwise and the horses go forward and back rather than up and down (wow, you learn something every day). The boys were way into looking at their maps. It was hard to convince Jackson that we would, in fact, make it to every ride before the park closed. We blasted through the first quarter of the park in about 3o minutes.

Another favorite stop is the "ball room" or the "parachute" (as it looks like a parachute on the map). It has ball vacuums, ball cannons, ball guns, ball slingshots...just too much fun. Cooper had fun loading the ball guns and trying to shoot daddy and Jackson with them.
I think we all agree that the highlight of Storyland were the water-drenching rides. Guess who got the most drenched? Yours truly. It was almost like it was a conspiracy. Here are some pictures of Jason and Jackson going on the Bamboo Chutes for the second time after I opted out after being almost drowned by "Dr. Geyser's raft ride" in between.
Going...

Going...

And...Gone! (Jackson's face cracks me up!)

Here are some shots of us on the "Balloon Chase" ride. Jason and I were laughing at the fact that we look like we are having way more fun than the kids in every picture. Cooper looks mad at the world, and Jackson has about the fakest smile ever!

Same with these...I promise...the boys did have a good time.

It seems like we did a lot in 2 days! The boys were tired...and we drove up through the white mountains on the way home. No pictures of this, either, but take my word for it...fabulous. I can't imagine how beautiful it is during peak foliage season. I must say that I am very thankful for portable DVD players...quiet. This gives us hope for our long trip to Wisconsin and KC at the end of the month!

Our Memorial Day!

Our Memorial day was great...very laid back and restful. Cooper and I put out the "merican fwag" in the morning. I really did not want to forget to do it, and I couldn't have had a better assistant.

Later in the morning, we went out in the backyard and blew bubbles and played in the clubhouse. It was nice just spending time outside with the boys on a beautiful day.

After a yummy lunch of "peanut butter jelly time" (and delicious turkey paninis for Jason and I) the boys helped him wash the car. It is so nice to drive a clean vehicle. I have been instructed to keep the windows up this week, as the pollen is really out of control right now and settles on the dashboard--wreaking havoc on Jason and my allergies!

At 3, we went to grill out at our friend's house. All our kids are very close in age and will be attending school together next year at Symonds. The little ones will be in school together too when they reach kindergarten.

All in all, it was a nice day.

Starting our Summer....

I don't have much new to report in this one, but I thought I would
just post a few pictures of the boys enjoying the warm weather!
More to come...Storyland Trip next weekend!!

Hello Again!

Excuses, excuses. We have so many, but none of them seem to be good enough; but the important thing is...WE'RE BACK!

With spring comes the motivation to get back on track. The weather has been beautiful here, mostly in the 60s to 70s, just perfect for playing outside again! Jackson has been enjoying his last months of preschool and is ready(more than ready) to start kindergarten in the fall. Cooper has been busy following Jackson around and becoming more of a big-boy every single day!
Jason is wrapping up his semester, it is currently finals week at Keene State, so he is looking forward to reading over 1000 pages of final papers this weekend...and then getting ready to teach his summer courses.
I am working hard, playing hard, and studying (sort-of) hard. It is my final week of the most boring semester imaginable, and I am looking forward to completing my statistics final, and then, sweet freedom for the summer where I am free to read for pleasure, and use my spare time to goof off with all my boys. We have a lot planned; camping, hiking, a long road trip to Wisconsin and Kansas, exploring NH, hitting the beach and spending time with good friends in the backyard grilling.

We just came off a nice weekend visit with Dad (Papa) and Kristi (Gramma Kristi). We had such a blast in a short period of time. We went to Boston on Saturday to visit the Science Museum and to eat lunch in the oldest (still in business) restaurant in the country, Union Oyster House c. 1826.
The Science Museum was fun, but a whirlwind. We didn't see near all of it, but we did catch a 3-D show on space.

Looking silly in the 3-D glasses! Cooper wouldn't wear his, so I am sure he was wondering what was wrong with his eyes the whole time!
